It’s really easy to look after your Emma Bridgewater cutlery, as it’s dishwasher safe and can also be hand-washed, although we recommend that you do not use an abrasive sponge or dishwasher tablet.
Emma and Matthew first started using the samples for their current cutlery range at their house in Norfolk two years ago. These heavy, stainless steel pieces were a nice alternative to the bone-handled cutlery, bought in second hand markets, that they had been using until then. “The samples were the same pieces we’re using today; they’re heavy and practical, and we realised we could decorate them with some of our most popular patterns,” says Matthew. “There’s something cheerful about laying the table with colourful cutlery, so we started working on designs straight away. We liked the samples so much that we realised we wanted to put our own patterns on them.”
Made from high quality steel, the cutlery is decorated with some of their best loved patterns, including Polka Dot, Starry Skies and Blue Toast, some of which have been given a quirky make-over by inverting the colours of the designs. Pink Hearts, for example, is available in a pink on white pattern, but also comes in a design with white hearts on a red background. “Printing onto the heavy handles is a really effective technique and has the same feeling of sponge ware,” says Matthew.
With such a range of colours, each design stands alone and works hard with your existing Emma Bridgewater pottery, but also looks beautiful when mixed and matched for a really funky and colourful table.
