A true celebration of outstanding writing and brilliant books; the UK’s only “festival in a factory”, the Stoke-on-Trent Literary Festival takes place every June in the creative surroundings of our Victorian factory, that has manufactured Emma’s iconic handmade and hand-decorated pottery for more than twenty years.
For three days in June author talks, panel discussions, hands-on workshops and live performances take place all around the canal-side factory in surprising spaces, from the old pottery warehouse to the cobbled courtyard. From history to poetry, award winning memoirs and biographies to politics and food, environmentalism to heritage, plus great events for young readers too; the 2017 Literary Festival again promises to be an eclectic and inspiring celebration of the written and spoken word in the heart of this most creative of cities.
We’re giving away five pairs of tickets to see Emma’s younger sister Clover Stroud who will be in conversation about her lyrical, moving and adventurous memoir The Wild Other with journalist and broadcaster Rowan Pelling. The event is at 8pm on Friday 9th June and full details can be found here - answer the simple question below for your chance to win a pair!
Other 2017 highlights include Sue Perkins, Alexander Armstrong, Ed Balls, Loyd Grossman, Debbie Horsfield on Poldark, Charlotte Green, Julian Glover on Thomas Telford, Tristram Hunt reveals secrets of the V&A, Jonathan Bate discusses Shakespeare and Ted Hughes, Paula Byrne explores the lives of Jane Austen and Kick Kennedy plus Horrid Henry, poetry panels, Arnold Bennett and lots more!
