Thirty years ago this month Emma made her first mugs, after trying to find a birthday present for her mum and realising no one was making what she wanted: beautiful, practical pottery for a relaxed, colourful and mismatched life. Fifteen million mugs later, her name is synonymous with cosy, cheerful, English kitchens and we're still making our pottery in Stoke-on-Trent, where 250 craftsmen and women cast, fire, glaze and decorate every piece by hand. It's a choice that keeps jobs in England- proper, creative, long term jobs that whole families have done for generations.
