We are looking to recruit a Gardener/Caretaker to work closely with our Head Gardener and Site Manager to support the maintenance and development of the Bampton site and gardens. This site is not only the company’s main design centre, but is also a site of important historical significance, with many company events now being held there.

The successful candidate must have a love of the countryside, an affinity for animals and gardening experience. Flexibility will be the key for this role. A Driving licence is essential. Health & Safety/First Aid qualification an advantage.

Key areas of accountability

Gardening duties:

Soil cultivation, forking, mulching, weeding, pruning, seed sowing, bed preparation and planting – flowers and vegetables

Heavy garden work such as digging/rotovating/watering/chainsaw work

Tree planting

Glasshouse cultivation

Shared care of animals – sheep, pigs, cattle and poultry

Use and maintenance of hand tools

Awareness of Health and Safety noting that all duties must be carried out in accordance with current H&S at Work legislation

To ensure all equipment is clean

Caretaking duties:

Basic building maintenance and decorating

Vermin control

Vacancy Type

Permanent, Full Time, Core hours will be 39 hours per week (inc. weekend work as appropriate)

There is an option for the successful candidate to live on site.

We are committed to developing links with schools, colleges and universities, and we are happy to accept invitations from students looking to undertake unpaid work experience placements. These placements may involve time spent in our Offices, Shops, Warehouse or Factory, normally over a 3 day period.
