Lily of the valley is associated with spring, renewal and luck. The reason why is said to be because King Charles IX of France was given a lily of the valley plant on 1st May in 1561 to bring him luck. Being of a superstitious nature, he decided to give a plant to the ladies of his court every year on that day.
The French continue to present lily of the valley nosegays as gifts on 1st May; it’s a public holiday known as La Fête du Muguet. Our Lily Of The Valley Small Old Bowl makes a lovely present for someone, especially for a May birthday, or simply as a pretty floral serving bowl to wish a friend good luck with something.
What is a second? All pottery is inspected before it leaves the factory. When an item is classified as a second the fault or faults may be in the finish, the decoration or the shape. The faults are not structural (i.e. each piece still functions as intended and is useable). Faults are marked with a black line which will be visible when your product arrives but washes off with a damp cloth.
